The City of Thibodaux

 



The community served by Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. is located in the Bayou Country of Southeast Louisiana.  A university town known for its nationally acclaimed medical facilities, Thibodaux offers rich culture and diversity.  The City of Thibodaux has been designated Louisiana Main Street Community and was designated by the Louisiana Lieutenant Governor's Office as a Louisiana Retirement Community. Smithsonian Magazine recently recognized Thibodaux as one of the "20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015".


It is the home of Nicholls State University, the city's major employer, which provides Thibodaux with a growing population of educated, professional, work-force ready citizens.  Thibodaux is also home to South Central Louisiana Technical College Lafourche Campus which offers 24 vocational programs.  Nationally recognized for quality care, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center has been named a Distinguished Hospital by J.D. Power and Associates.


The area's mild winters and warm summers are attractive to young families, college students and retired folks alike. Thibodaux has a history of high employment. Its rich land supports sugar cane farming, manufacturing and the oil industry. Thibodaux employers are diversified, ranging from small
businesses and governmental agencies to professional and technical services.


Thibodaux supports a population of approximately 14,500 residents within its city limits.
