Founded in 1960 as a non-profit community theatre, Thibodaux Playhouse is dedicated to the planning, promotion, and production of plays for the citizens of Thibodaux and surrounding areas. Over its 57 year history, Thibodaux Playhouse has produced over 200 plays and performed at various local venues including Nicholls State University and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center Theatre. On July 11, 2013, Mayor Tommy Eschete proclaimed Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. Thibodaux's official community theatre.
The Thibodaux Playhouse Season extends from September-August and includes three straight plays, one musical, and two TPI, Jr. productions. Season brochures are distributed to patrons and mailed to season ticket holders during the initial phase of our annual membership drive. Brochures can also be obtained by calling Thibodaux Playhouse (985) 446-1896 or by visiting our ticket booth located in the lobby of the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center Theatre, 314 St. Mary Street in Thibodaux.
In keeping with its vision to 'EXPAND THE ARTS and ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE', Thibodaux Playhouse is launching its newest outreach program, TPI Field Trip. By staging Cajun-themed children's stories for area schools in February 2017, the Playhouse will showcase local writers while increasing access, participation, knowledge, and exposure to the performing arts for area youth.
