A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. is now showing its summer musical, A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Forum!
The show runs July 21-23 & 28-31 (7:30pm) and on July 24 & 31 (2pm). Admission is $20 for adults and $12 for students. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling: 985-446-1896

Doug DeGirolamo . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .PSEUDOLUS
Doug is thrilled to be part of his first TPI production. He recently graduated from DeSales University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelors Degree in acting and directing. Past endeavors include Night of the Iguana, Doubt, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Bye Bye Birdie, and True West. He wants to thank the whole cast for making this show very special for him. Also the loving support from his family and friends.

Don returns to the stage after a short hiatus. He was last seen in his reprised role of Burl Sanders in The Sanders Family Christmas. Some of his previous performances include The Nerd, Hello Dolly!, Smoke on the Mountain, The Spitfire Grill, and The Pajama Game.
To help pay his bills in his real life, he is a Financial Controller for Odyssea Marine Inc. He sends all his love to the girls in his life, Valerie, Erica, and Allie, for their patience and understanding during this production. He dedicates this performance to the memory of his parents.

Laura has been seen on several stages throughout the local area, and is happy to be back with Thibodaux Playhouse. Previous roles include Ms. Hannigan in Annie, Babe in Crimes of the Heart, and Billie Dawn in Born Yesterday (People’s Choice Winner). She is very proud to take on the role of Choreographer for this production. She would like to express her love for her husband and her family.

James Dillon Hughes is a graphic design major at Nicholls State University and has been involved with dozens of theatrical productions since age 10. Dillon was an active member of high school choir and Talented Theatre and Vocal programs. He was a 4 year member of LMEA District VII Honor Choir and in the first ever ACDA Men’s AllState Choir. Some of Dillon’s theatre highlights include, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (twice), Sound of Music, Honk!, Disney’s High School Musical, Guys and Dolls, and Annie. He recently directed thHe would like to thank his mother for her continued support, his nanny for her amazing costumes, the cast for making this experience very enjoyable, and YOU for coming to see the show and supporting the arts!

Paul is a board member of Thibodaux Playhouse and a graduate of Nicholls State University. He is leaving the Houma- Thibodaux area to attend graduate school in Lafayette this fall. Paul has performed in Never get Smart With An Angel, All The Great Books Abridged, Sander’s Family Christmas, Don’t Drink The Water and many more. As well as performing, Paul has helped behind the scenes in direction, lights, music and set construction. Finally, Paul would like to thank his family both at home and in the theater for allowing him this wonderful opportunity and the many blessings he has received. “I will miss you all very much.”

Roger made his debut in multiple supporting roles in the 2010 Thibodaux Playhouse production of Annie. He remained active both on and off stage over the past year by serving on the Thibodaux Playhouse Board of Directors and appearing in TPI’s most recent production Never Get Smart With an Angel as Salvatore Bustebrizzio, for which he earned the People’s Choice Award.
A native of Napoleonville and resident of Thibodaux, Roger is employed by the City of Thibodaux Police Department. Lori is making her debut performance at Thibodaux Playhouse, after a 6 year hiatus from the stage. She has previously been involved in plays such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Kid in King Authors’ Court, and Romeo and Juliet. She has recently become enthusiastically involved in the world of belly dance and also enjoys singing and playing her guitar, as well as displaying her art locally.

Nineteen-year-old Anna has loved the performing arts as a dancer, singer, and actress since age two. Her experiences include: eleven plays, twelve dance recitals, four school talent shows, the 2009-2010 district honor choir treble group, the 2009-2010 vocal ensemble show choir, and the Farm Bureau Talent Show.
Her future ambitions are to be a dance choreographer and a performer in Broadway musicals. Her parents, Norman Philip and Karen Mitchell Davaine, as well as her older sister, Elizabeth Davaine Matherne, continue to be her cheerleaders.

Julia is a student at Nicholls State University. She has previously acted in Aladdin, A Streetcar Named Desire, Seussical, Guys and Dolls, The Diviners, Beauty and the Beast, Annie, and other random musicals in the Houma-Thibodaux area. She would like to thank Emma, Belle, and her mother for their support.

Although Mercedes is making her Thibodaux Playhouse debut, she has appeared in various elementary and middle school plays and has performed in Central Lafourche High School plays such as Lizzy Borden, Macbeth, and her favorite high school role as Titania in A Mid-Summer Nights Dream. She also portrayed Thyona in the Nicholls Players production Big Love. Mercedes is currently attending Nicholls to earn a degree in Vocal Music Education and hopes to one day be on Broadway. She is excited for her small role in this performance because as a friend of hers says, “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.” She is also excited to be “twinning” with one of her best friends.

This is Alison’s second production with Thibodaux Playhouse. She formally participated in their production of Annie last summer. Alison is an active member of Central Lafourche High School’s performing arts club. She has studied the art of acting at John Robert Powers Acting and Modeling Academy. She would like to give a big thanks to the Thibodaux Playhouse members and to the ‘…Forum’ cast for an extraordinary summer.

A member of the Thibodaux Playhouse Board of Directors, Daphne has remained active in our local theatre since her 2008 debut in The Bad Seed (People’s Choice Award; Best Female Lead Award). Having produced and/or co-directed several Thibodaux Playhouse productions, Daphne has also appeared in Rumors, Bless Me, Father (Best Supporting Female Award), and Never Get Smart With an Angel, as well as, Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne’s How the Other Half Loves. Serving as …Forum’s producer, cast member, and seamstress, Daphne is looking forward to sharing a break with two very special cast mates: daughter Marcel Hebert and sweetheart Roger Hernandez.

Chelsea is making her Thibodaux Playhouse debut, but she is no stranger to theatre or to music. She is active in her school’s Vocal Ensemble and Drama Department. Her past roles include Sandy in Grease, and Lizzie in Lizzie Borden at Fall River. In the future, Chelsea plans to major in Musical Theatre and Music Education. She would like to thank her fellow cast mates for making this show an amazing experience.

After spending the last two years working behind the curtain, Westley is excited to be in front of the curtain again. A Thibodaux Playhouse board member and current Treasurer, this is his third time appearing on the Thibodaux Playhouse stage. Joey has worked in local theatre for thirteen years. Beginning with school plays, he has worked his way up to larger roles and directing. Previous Thibodaux Playhouse roles include Rooster in Annie and Barnette in Crimes of the Heart. Joey intends to make theatre his livelihood and seeks opportunities to make that happen. Recently, he trained in New York City with the American Theatre Wing. Joey would like to thank his cast for making his work such a pleasure and his wife and family for, well, everything.

Treva, your friendly carhop at the local Sonic, has appeared in multiple productions in the Thibodaux area. In addition to appearing on the Thibodaux Playhouse stage in both children’s and regular productions, Treva was also seen as Buddy in the Nicholls Players production of The Diviners. He also served as their stage manager during A Lesson Before Dying. On stage or off, Treva is a proud patron of the theatre.

Marcel first appeared on stage at the age of nine as Rhoda Penmark in Thibodaux Playhouse’s 2008 production of The Bad Seed (Best Supporting Actress Award) and was seen in the 2010 production of Annie. Children’s Summer Musicals to her credit include Pocahontas, The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad, and the recent production of Krazy Kamp where she appeared as Hildegard, the European camp counselor.
A student and choir member at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School, Marcel is anxious to enter the seventh grade this coming school year.
Drew Erny . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (3:3) PROTEAN
This is Drew’s first production with Thibodaux Playhouse. He has previously played eclectic roles in Central Lafourche’s Performing Arts Club productions A Midsummer’s Night Dream and Treasure Island. “It warms my heart to be so welcomed by the Playhouse.”

Main Roles
- Max: (20′s to mid 30′s) Assistant to Saunders – An aspiring singer, his worst enemy is his own lack of self-confidence. He spends his time as a doormat to his future father-in-law and trying to convince Maggie that he is marriage material. (Singing Ability a Plus!)
- Maggie: (20′s to 30′s) Max’s Girlfriend – pretty, quirky; a young woman who doesnt want to settle for the seemingly mundane life she has with Max. She longs for an adventurous fling, one which will allow her to “hear bells.”
- Saunders: (mid 50′s) Maggie’s father and the general Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company – authoritarian; an uptight man with a short fuse, most of which he takes out on Max.
- Tito: (30′s to 40′s) A World Famous Tenor known also to his fans as Il Stupendo – imposing; a womanizing Italian who loves Maria, but finds difficulty resisting the advances of the opposite sex, who seem to advance frequently and with considerable momentum. (Singing Ability a Plus!)
- Maria: (30′s) Titos wife – Sophia Loren-type: busty, proud, and excitable; a passionate and temperamental Italian woman who is growing weary of her husbands wandering eye (and body) for the opposite sex.
- Bellhop: (age open) A bellhop – a highly energetic fan of Titos, who uses his occupation to get close to the international star. (Singing Ability a Plus!)
- Diana: (mid 30′s) a soprano with the Cleveland Grand Opera Company – beautiful, sexy; a member of the opera company who has been “flinging her way through the whole cast.” Playing Desdemona opposite Tito, she thinks that he might be her ticket out of Cleveland into the big time.
- Julia: (60′s) Chairman of the Opera Guild – over the hill, ex-diva, for whom the Cleveland Grand Opera Company is the center of her small, pretentious world.
NOTE: Max, Tito, and the Bellhop engage in operatic singing on a couple of occasions within the play. All of these roles will be cast with thebest actors, regardless of their singing abilities.
