Meet the Cast: “Annie!”
Bethany Martinez (ANNIE) Bethany is making her Thibodaux Playhouse debut; however, she is not a newcomer to the performing arts. Over the last three years, Bethany has performed in various Thibodaux High School plays such as: Snow White, Red vs. Wolf, Miss Nelson is Missing, And The Winner Is, I Hate Shakespeare, and most recently as ‘Dorothy’ in The Wizard of Oz. Bethany is a soon-to-be senior at THS and is very involved in both school and church functions. “Jesus is the reason I can do what I do, and He deserves the credit, not me.” Her family is her main source of inspiration, and she has them to thank for everything she has done thus far.
David Gauthreaux (OLIVER WARBUCK) David is returning to the stage after a 16 year hiatus. Last seen in the Playhouse’s 1994 production of You Can’t Take it with You, he has delighted past audiences with several comedic roles, one of those being ‘Rooster Hannigan’ for Thibodaux Playhouse’s 1988 production of Annie (Best Supporting Actor Award). David is employed at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. His hobbies are singing and Mardi Gras. He currently serves as the Co-Captain and Captain of the Krewe of Cleophas and Christopher respectively here in Thibodaux. He says, “I am delighted to back and feel right at home on the Playhouse stage.”
Tiffany Trahan (GRACE) Tiffany, a native of Houma, is a vocal and woodwind teacher at South Louisiana Center of the Arts and a Color Guard Instructor at Patterson High School. She recently graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelors of Music, concentrating in Music Performance. She has performed in several high school plays including The Foreigner, Fifteen Minute Hamlet, All the World’s a Stage, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Tiffany loves the technical side of theater, having collegiate experience in lighting, backstage, stage managing, set construction, fly and sound production. Tiffany’s hope for the future is to promote music exposure and education for every age. Special thanks to her family and friends for their unbelievably amazing support in all her endeavors and to Anna Roberts for being such an awesome boss!
Laura Templet (MISS HANNIGAN) Laura, soon-to-be Pierce, is a recent graduate of Nicholls State University with a degree in English. She has been seen in several Nicholls Players productions including: Arsenic and Old Lace, The Glass Menagerie, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Laura’s community theatre credits include Seven Menus with the Sam & Jim Acting Co. and several Thibodaux Playhouse productions such as: Lucky Stiff and Born Yesterday (People’s Choice Award). Her future goal is to obtain a MFA in acting. She would like to thank her family and friends for their support throughout the years. Love you, Joey Pierce!
Joey Pierce (ROOSTER) Joey was last seen as ‘Paul Verrall’ in the Thibodaux Playhouse 2009 production of Born Yesterday. He has been seen on numerous local stages, and has recently performed in New York City as part of the American Theatre Wings’s Springboard NYC Program. Big thanks go out to all family and friends. Julia Chauvin (LILY) Julia is grateful to have survived her first year at Nicholls State University. Having previously acted in Aladdin, A Streetcar Named Desire, Seussical, Guys and Dolls, The Diviners, Beauty and the Beast, and other random musicals in the Houma-Thibodaux area, Julia’s friends and family are astonished that ‘Lily’ marks her first villain role. She would like to thank Emma, Belle, and her mother for their support.
Jason Galjour (DRAKE) Jason works a state probation and parole officer. This is his second appearance on the community theater stage, but his first musical. He is supported by his beautiful daughter Isabella, who is making her community theater debut, and his loving girlfriend Christina.
Damon Stentz (FDR, RADIO PRODUCER) Now playing in his fourth production with the Thibodaux Playhouse, Damon has landed his most difficult role yet: playing a Democrat. Seriously, Damon is honored to play President Franklin Roosevelt, and thanks Andrea, Dylan, and Addison for their support and cheers. Lots of thanks and tons of love!
Blake M. Petit (BERT HEALY, HAROLD ICKES, APPLE SELLER, JUDGE BRANDEIS, RADIO ANNOUNCER) Blake is a writer and educator from Ama, Louisiana. In over two dozen productions in the Thibodaux area, he has served in almost every theatre role, including actor (most recently in Don’t Drink the Water), director (most recently in Born Yesterday) and writer (The 3-D Radio Show). He has published two novels and hosts a fiction podcast, Blake M. Petit’s Evercast, at EvertimeRealms.com, and co-hosts the weekly 2 in 1 Showcase pop culture podcast at Comixtreme.com.
J’Leigh Danae Chauvin (STAR-TO-BE, RONNIE BOYLAN) J’Leigh is the 15 year old daughter of Allen & Jessica Chauvin of Larose. She attends South Lafourche High School as a sophomore. Having performed since she was 8, J’Leigh has had the pleasure of performing for the Barrataria Terrebonne National Estuary Program, with the Hurricane Levee Band, the Louisiana Cajun Band, Vince Vance & The Valiants, and Harry Connick. She aspires to attend Nicholls State University as a music major, and she performs as a volunteer whenever possible. She hopes to later teach children piano, guitar, and voice.
Roger Hernandez (MORGANTHAU, ASSISTANT DOG CATCHER, HOOVERVILLE-ITE, SERVANT, RADIO ANNOUNCER) Having been involved behind the scenes for previous productions, Roger takes the Thibodaux Playhouse stage for the first time. A native of Napoleonville and resident of Thibodaux, Roger is employed by the City of Thibodaux Police Department. He is happy to have the opportunity to contribute to the community through the theatre and would like to thank his family and friends for their support and encouragement.
Denny Tsang (HULL, BUNDLES, HOOVERVILLE-ITE, SERVANT) Denny graduated from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan earning a dual bachelors degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering. He moved to Houma two years ago and is currently managing New China Restaurant in Houma. This is Denny’s debut performance.
Sean Autin (PERKINS, OFFICER WARD, SERVANT, SOUND EFFECTS MAN) A former student at Mayde Creek Jr. High in Houston, TX, Sean appeared in five school productions. Now a Junior at Thibodaux High School, he was last seen in The Wizard of Oz, his fifth play at THS. He has also performed in several plays through the Nicholls Summer Camp.
Treva Breaux (HOWE, FRED McCRAKEN/WACKY, HOOVERVILLE-ITE, SERVANT) Treva is a freshman at E.D. White Catholic High School. He was last seen as ‘Buddy Laymen’ in The Diviners, his seventh show with the Nicholls Players. Treva’s name has appeared in over twenty playbills from acting and stage-managing, to sound and lights. Some of his acting experiences include: The Jungle Book (Baloo), Oedipus the King (Chorus), The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad (Toad), and Arsenic and Old Lace (Klein and Mr. Gibbs). The stage is not the only place you may have seen him last summer. Treva was in the Doug’s Refrigeration commercial Boy Trouble. He would like to dedicate this performance to his late grandfather Eustace Breaux and his wife Cecile. He also thanks his family, friends, and Dr. Stanley Coleman for their support.
Michala Torres (MOLLY) Eight-year-old Michala is thrilled to be joining the cast of Annie as orphan ‘Molly’. As a second grader at St. Genevieve, she appeared in the St. Genevieve Patriot Players’ 2009 productions The Big Bad Musical (chorus), and Toy Camp (Princess Ann/Raggedy Ann). She has also been seen in the Thibodaux Playhouse Children’s Theatre productions The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad (fox), and most recently Noodle Rat Rotten Hat (wood sprite). In addition to theatre, Michala also enjoys dancing at Lisa & Michelle’s Ecole De Danse.
Sarah Delhaye (PEPPER) A student at Thibodaux Elementary, 10-year-old Sarah is a member of Louisiana Kids. In addition to singing at local fairs and festivals throughout Louisiana, Sarah has appeared in the Nicholls Summer Camp production of Beauty and the Beast and, most recently, in the Thibodaux Playhouse Children’s Summer Musical Noodle Rat Rotten Hat (Twig). Sarah is the daughter of Eddie and Helen Jennifer Delhaye of Thibodaux.
Anna Marie Davaine (DUFFY) Anna is a high school student who has loved the performing arts as a dancer, singer, and actress since age two. Her experiences include: ten plays, twelve dance recitals, four school talent shows, the 2009-2010 district honor choir treble group, the 2009-2010 vocal ensemble show choir, and the upcoming Farm Bureau Talent Show. She has always wanted to be in Annie, hoping it would further her acting experience. Her future ambitions are to be a dance choreographer and a performer in Broadway musicals. She will be trying out for American Idol this year. Her parents Norman Philip and Karen Mitchell Davaine, as well as, her older sister Elizabeth Davaine Matherne continue to be her cheerleaders.
Karra Rodrigue (JULY) A soon-to-be sixth grader at St. Genevieve, Karra has performed in two school productions: The Big Bad Musical and Toy Camp. In addition to theatre, Karra has enjoyed dancing six years. She also joined her school’s band last year as a flute player.
Sophia Galey (TESSIE) Sophia loves music, singing, dancing, and acting. She is a piano/vocal student of Mrs. Sandra King and has performed in five dance recitals. She will be a third grader at St. Joseph Elementary School in the fall. This is her first performance for the Thibodaux Playhouse and is having a fantastic time. “Oh, my goodness!”
Jessica Galey (KATE) Jessica was last seen as ‘Esther’ in the Thibodaux Playhouse Children’s Theatre 2008 production of Pocahontas. Her desire to perform, serve, and lead is shown through her participation in the band, school talent show, student council, caritas club, and dancer for eight years. She will be a sixth grader at St. Joseph Elementary in the fall. Reach for the stars!
Hannah Adams (HANNAH) Hannah is 11 years old and a student at St. Genevieve School in Thibodaux. She has performed in two Patriot Players Productions: The Big Bad Musical in 2008 and Toy Camp in 2009. This is her first Thibodaux Playhouse production. Hannah will be starting her fourth year of dancing this fall, and she is also an excellent vocalist. Hannah is the daughter of Robert and Melinda Adams. She has one sister Kaitlyn and two dogs: Coco and Jolie.
Rebecca Bourgeois (REBECCA, SANDY the dog) Rebecca is the daughter of Biff and Dee Bourgeois. She is eight years old and is home schooled. She wants to thank everyone involved in the play for all the fun she’s had.
Nikki Allemand (HOOVERVILLE-ITE, MRS. PUGH) “What a thrill and learning experience it has been to participate in this year’s production of Annie.” Nikki hasn’t been in a play since 1982 (The Night of January 16th). She’d like to thank her son Alton for encouraging her to audition. She works as a full-time nurse in Houma. “It has been very rewarding to get to know the cast and directors from the Thibodaux Playhouse.”
Dayla Rich (MRS. GREER, HOOVERVILLE-ITE) This is the eighth time Dayla performs on the Thibodaux Playhouse stage. Last summer, she was seen as ‘Rat’ in the Children’s Theatre production The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad and as ‘Louisa’ in LePetit Theatre’s The Sound of Music. She would like to thank her parents and the cast of Annie. Break a leg!!!
Tiffany Galey (ANNETTE, HOOVERVILLE-ITE, USHERETTE) Tiffany is delighted to be back on stage for this production of Annie! Last seen in Thibodaux Playhouse’s 1988 production, along with appearances in other musicals such as Oklahoma and Scrooge, she is thrilled to perform in this play with her two daughters – Jessica and Sophia. What a family affair! Tiffany teaches kindergarten at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School. Her husband, Don, supports “his girls” in their new acting roles!
Alison Schreckengast (SOPHIE, HOOVERVILLE-ITE, BONNIE BOYLAN) Annie is Alison’s first production with the Thibodaux Playhouse, though she has had her share of theater performances. She is an active member of Central Lafourche High School’s drama program. Some productions include: Tartuffe, Lizzy Borden, and A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream. She has been trained in the art of acting at John Robert Powers Acting Academy in Metairie.
Marcel Hebert (HOOVERVILLE-ITE, CONNIE BOYLAN) Marcel first appeared on stage at the age of nine as ‘Rhoda Penmark’ in Thibodaux Playhouse’s 2008 production of The Bad Seed (Best Supporting Actress Award). She was also seen in the Children’s Summer Musicals Pocahontas as ‘Aunt Morning Star’, and as a villain weasel in The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad. A former student and choir member at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Houma, Marcel is anxious to begin attending St. Joseph Elementary here in Thibodaux as a sixth grader this coming school year.
Daniel Robert Andrews (DOG CATCHER) Daniel is a junior at Thibodaux High School. This is his first performance with the Thibodaux Playhouse and is excited to have joined the cast of Annie.
Isabella Galjour (PASSER-BY) Isabella is a second grader at Schriever Elementary. She is joining her father Jason Galjour in the cast to make her community theater debut.
Andrew Benoit-Naquin (KID) Andrew is a 12-year-old student at St. Genevieve School. An active member of his school’s drama club, Andrew starred as ‘Judge Wise Old Man’ in the Patriot Players’ production The Big Bad Musical and appeared in Toy Camp as ‘Cool Cat’. Joining the cast of Thibodaux Playhouse’s Children’s Summer Musical The Mad Adventures of Mr. Toad, Andrew portrayed ‘Chief Weasel’ in 2009. He enjoys playing basketball, swimming, and playing video games. He hopes to be an actor when he grows up.
